Jumping Pictures.

Might sound silly, but I am a huge fan of jumping shots.  I've seen them in wedding photos, in vacation photos, and in girl's night out photos.  This one is a girl scout hike in the fall leaves.  Perhaps consider next time you are saying "Cheese!" instead saying "Ready, Set...Jump!"

One day I was at my grandmother's farm, which is a very special place to me.  I decided to stand in one spot and take pictures with my camera turning it 45 degrees to the left,then 45 degrees to the right.  I had seen it done in a photo once at an airport.  I did the front and back yard.


Later I pieced the photos together finding lines that matched up and glued them to a large long frame.  I gave a copy to my grandmother and also one to my mother.  My sister has also requested one.

Now I'm thinking of all the other special places that I could do this with.  Perhaps, where I was married, or my family's favorite vacation spot, or a childhood home.  Endless possibilities!

Family Reunion Kid Olympics.

Are you planning a reunion this summer?  In need of some ideas for activities for the kids?  Here is one we did that was a huge hit thanks to the planning of our two brothers.  Kid Olympics!  We began early in the week and continued throughout filling in activities when there was time.  The awards show at the end wasn't pictured, but was also a big hit.

 First, the two oldest cousins chose teams and chose team names and created team cheers.  Then we began!

 Events included:

Cheeseball tosses onto showercaps with shaving cream representatives from each team.  (Don't you love our names?)

 

Water balloon tosses at the very large target that isn't shown here...Grandpa!  He was soaked!

Croquette... always a classic.  They even knew what it was from Alice in Wonderland.

Kid Olympics is definitely going to be a new tradition! 

Grandma's House.

Shadow Boxes.

I think that shadow boxes are a cool decoration that no one seems to remember anymore.  My grandma and mom have many around the house.  Perhaps it's because my grandpa loves to build them with scrap wood.  I can recall staring at all the small pieces as a child, looking at every detail.  

Here's one made of a yardstick that would be so cute as a teacher gift!

Each separating piece of wood is a cut up yard stick, pushed and glued every two inches from top to bottom.  

Her next two are a HIS and HER's, which I think would make a cute wedding present.  Either way...who doesn't love tiny things!

This was being passed around facebook.  I coudn't find the source but it sure looked like my something my husband would like.  I never knew this!  Did you?

Prayer Pictures.

For a lesson at church one Sunday, I took pictures of my class to make a book for them.  It was about all the times we pray.  There's something about little kids faces when they pray.  They are SOOO cute! !

 

I've decided to do some of my own kids too.  

Embroidery Hoop Egg.

My friend I mentioned before also posted a picture of a table that she re-did and mentioned some eggs that she had made with embroidery hoops.  I think she just took some strips of fabric and ribbon, layered it, and then pinned it back.  I think it looks really cute! My problem is that I never have random scraps of fabric that are laying around, especially not "cutesy" fabric.  The printable was a part of the last post too, and I can't find where the post is to get that printable, but it's from the blog eighteen25.

Easter Countdowns.

My friend did a version of this craft and linked it originally to THIS blog post.  I love the bunny eggs that my friend got at the dollar store for hers! I've been thinking for a long time about doing a cookie sheet countdown for every holiday that gets switched out somehow but I haven't hammered out my ideas yet. 

Vision Boards.

A few years ago, my mom read somewhere, or perhaps it was on a TV show that every person should make a vision board of their goals in life.  It can have phrases, objects, pictures, and any scraps of life that stand out as inspiring to you.  At the time, she was staying with her parents carrying for her father as he reached the final stages of his life.  She and my Grandmother used their spare time to create their very own vision boards.  

Here is my mom's work in progress.  Everything on it so far makes me think, "Yep!  That's SO her!"

I decided to make one for myself as motivation while I attend school.  I add things to it that I hear along the way, the rare compliments I get from my professors, and anything else that reminds me why the heck I'm doing this!!

Here is my PhD vision board.  Looks a mess and I need to get a bigger one but I like that it's all me!
